The Raid 17 Team: The Final Day!

Published Friday, 29th September 2017

The team were packed, warmed-up and ready to leave Ax-Les-Thermes by 8.30am.

A huge 154km stood between them and the Mediterranean Sea where they would complete their epic coast-to-coast challenge.

They had four big climbs ahead of them first which began with a gruelling 2001m climb to the top of the Port de Pailhères.

Despite a perfect blue-sky sunny day the temperature dropped to below 4°C at the top of the Cols and a biting wind made it feel much colder.

Two slightly less challenging Cols were followed by the final Col of the day which was to test every single one of them and push them to their absolute limit.

A long 13.6km climb to the top of the Col de Jau took everything they had and after a quick change and time to refuel the team began the descent towards the Mediterranean Coast.

They arrived in the beautiful town of Argeles sur Mer at 7pm where a small crowd of support team, friends, family and Senior Patron, Andy Keeling, were waiting to cheer them all in and celebrate their incredible achievements!
