The Raid 17 Team - Day 1: Part 1

Published Friday, 15th September 2017

Strong winds and torrential rain greeted the team as the rose for breakfast. They gathered together to assemble their bikes, which took a little longer than perhaps anticipated due to bits not going back together again or having been damaged in transit, before heading a short distance to the Atlantic coast for a quick photo opportunity and the start of their epic adventure. Team spirits were high despite the grey skies and wet weather.

A few teething problems, including a snapped chain and issues with one of the hand-bikes meant the team had to re-group before setting off for the start of their epic challenge. Unfortunately Michael's hand-bike could not be repaired as part of an electric gear had broken, which meant he made the sad decision to fly back home to get it fixed and continue training for his next challenge. Anthony also spent the day travelling with the support crew before heading back to Toulouse to pick up another bike!
