The Breeze Club Cheque Presentation Event

65 Degrees North was fortunate to be selected by fundraiser the Breeze Club as one of their three charities for 2023, and we recently attended the cheque presentation event at Soho Lighthouse. Some of the beneficiaries of 65 degrees were generous enough to share their stories, our chair Aston Woodward, had this to say:

“As Chairman of 65 Degrees North, I can only thank the members of the Breeze Club for their staggering generosity in supporting 65 Degrees North with a donation of £22,500. You witnessed first-hand the impact of the recent Australia expedition and I share below some feedback which illustrates the impact of our work:

“I am suffering with depression, so often find myself demotivated, quiet and low in mood. However, this trip seemed to have the opposite effect on me, it allowed me to be open and be honest with the other guys on the trip, to laugh and make memories. It pushed me out of my comfort zone (made me cold, wet, in pain) but also allowed me to achieve things I didn’t think were possible. The support and love from the other team members and support crew made it all possible. The highs and a lot of the lows brought us closer together as a team and the support we all gave each other was magical.”

We are a volunteer-run charity with minimal overheads so these funds will be put to good use in financing future expeditions and ensuring we look after and support rehabilitation through adventure. We cannot thank you enough.”

It was a wonderful evening, we were selected alongside two other charities the Chigwell Riding Trust and the Prostate Cancer Support Organisation (PCASO) who also shared their stories on the night. Overall, it was a great evening and we want to once again express our gratitude towards the Breeze Club for their generations donation.

We would also like to thank Scott Ashley for sharing his experiences of his incredible story with those attending on the night.
