Team EVEREST 2019: Puja Ceremony

Several inches of snow fell during the night and the temperature plummeted but when the team woke on the morning of their Puja Ceremony they were greeted by a beautiful blue sky.

The Sherpas had worked hard to prepare the Stupa in readiness for the arrival of the Lama, a local holy man, who would lead the group in prayer, and offer blessings for a safe passage.

The Sherpa team had prepared special food and drinks as offerings to placate the gods who live on the mountain.

The team brought their climbing kit to be blessed and the ceremony finished with everyone throwing flour and smearing it on each others faces!
