Team EVEREST 2019: Active Rest Days

Published Monday, 20th May 2019

The team are now waiting for their weather window for the summit push.

It is important that they still keep their legs active during their rest days so yesterday everyone took a leisurely walk to Gorak Shep (5180m).

The team stopped along the way to enjoy the scenery and play ‘Mountain Jenga’!

On the way back the team stopped to chat to several EBC trekkers who excitedly reported that Tom Cruise was visiting Base Camp!

However, once they learned that the team are attempting to climb to the summit they insisted on having photos taken with them!

The team are watching the weather forecasts closely now and waiting for the opportunity to set off for their summit attempt.

The fixed lines should hopefully reach the summit in the next day or two, which is slightly later than anticipated due to the strong winds.

There have been no summits attempts as yet, but could now be imminent as alpine climbers, and small teams of one or two may chase the Sherpa team who will fix the ropes to the summit.
