Raid 17 Training - Day 1

Published Sunday, 5th March 2017

On Saturday March 4th the team flew to Portugal, along with a collection of bikes and hand-bikes, to undertake a week-long of intensive training for 'Raid 17'.

Today proved to be quite challenging and they cycled approximately 80km, experiencing varied terrain and road surfaces, and occasional warm rain.

The team have just 6 months to prepare for the 720km coast-to-coast ride along some of the toughest roads in the Pyrenees, which will see them climb at least 11,000m (36,000ft) of hill and mountain.

It will be an immense test of physical and mental endurance for all who participate and a true demonstration of ‘rehabilitation through adventure’.
