Denali Team Training & Selection.. Part 2

Published Tuesday, 22nd May 2018

The team continued their training high up on the Aiguille du Midi where unexpected hot weather presented an extra challenge. The breathtaking scenery and blue skies ensured everyone was in very high spirits. They roped up to descend the steep and icy ridge providing plenty of opportunity to practise walking in crampons whist carrying an ice axe.

The team melted water to cook their lunch, an important skill which is vital to their survival on a hostile mountain at high altitude, and one they all need to be competent in for the Denali summit attempt. Despite being put through their paces and completing a full-on and very long day of training, the team still had energy to celebrate a successful week!

The team are undertaking this extreme challenge to raise funds for The Royal Marines Charity who provide the best possible through life charitable support for Royal Marines, their families, veterans and cadets.
