An 8-strong team arrived in Vallorcine, Chamonix for a training and selection package ahead of the Denali summit attempt. The Bellevue Alpine Lodge once again provided the perfect setting for the team to practise essential skills and drills, led by John Barry and Jan Rowe, before heading up Mt Blanc for further training at high altitude.

The team travelled to Courmayeur, on the Italian side of the mountain, where they experienced their first full day exposed to an an altitude close to 11,200 ft. For some of the team it was the first time at high altitude and a good opportunity to experience the effects.

The day was spent practising crevasse rescue, tent drills, walking in snow shoes and climbing on ice and rock wearing crampons. The weather was good with beautiful blue skies and only a slight wind, allowing the team to enjoy the spectacular scenery surrounding them.
