Liam is a Professor of Performance Science and head of the A-STEM research centre at Swansea University (https://www.swansea.ac.uk/sports-science/astem/ ). His research interests focus on elite athlete preparation and recovery. He has published over 125 papers in peer reviewed international journals and has secured over £2million in research funding as principle investigator.
Liam currently works with a number of summer and winter Olympic sports, professional rugby and football clubs and also sits on the editorial board of 2 Sports Science journals. He has recently worked with Sport Wales to develop the Welsh Institute of Performance Science (WIPS) (https://www.swansea.ac.uk/sports-science/astem/wips/ ) which aims to conduce performance solution driven research to aid Welsh athletes perform at both commonwealth and Olympic games.
Liam chairs both the strategic management board and research steering group of WIPS. His role is to oversee the physical development of the team and to help facilitate collaborations between various academic disciplines and 65 Degrees North.
