'Conquering Kili' ~ Day 1

‘Conquering Kili’ ~ Day 1

An excited Team Kili left the hotel for the transfer to Londorosi Gate for Day 1 of ‘Conquering Kili’

The team ate lunch and had their bags weighed-in before their first trek to Murami Camp on the world’s highest freestanding mountain.

Clear skies and sunshine meant the team enjoyed some breath-taking views of a snow-capped Mount Kilimanjaro as they climbed to a maximum altitude of 3,511m

Within a short time some of the team were already feeling the effects of altitude and suffering from severe headaches, dizziness and nausea.

Conversation flowed easily; words of encouragement and support were in abundance, and the team were in very high spirits.

They enjoyed their first dinner on the mountain together before settling into their tents for the night at 3,490m.
