Peter and the team were invited to No.11 Downing Street to meet George Osborne, Chancellor of the Exchequer.
It was an opportunity to discuss the details of the expedition and to thank the Chancellor for his much needed personal and financial support given to the ‘World’s First Unsupported Crossing of the Greenland Ice Cap by an Amputee’.
On Day 11 of their epic trek across the ice cap, the team received a huge morale boost when they received a surprise phone call from George Osborne.
The Chancellor pledged £100,000 from LIBOR Funds which made an invaluable contribution to the mission’s success.
It enabled the team to source the very best equipment that allowed them to operate in Greenland’s harshest conditions and made the difference between success and failure.
